Baycross Christian Family Foundation awarded a grant to the American Optometric foundation that will support future Binocular Vision and Pediatric Ezell Fellowships. Binocular vision is where both eyes aim simultaneously at the same visual target; both eyes work together, as a coordinated team. Binocular vision impairment is any visual condition wherein binocular visual skills are inadequately developed. Conditions where the eye is obviously turned or crossed are commonly referred to with terms like “cross-eyed” or “wandering eyes”. Binocular vision impairments are more common than people realize. The condition often goes undiagnosed or treated in underprivileged children. Baycross’s grant will help support qualified graduate students who are conducting research in binocular vision and pediatrics.
