Baycross Christian Family Foundation is pleased to announce its recent grant award to the Harvest House Transitional Centers to  transform a run-down apartment complex into housing units for chronically homeless families who desperately need help.

The complex is called Family Village and consists of 18 units at the intersection of Tuttle Avenue and MLK in Newtown. Deputies say the units had been the site for criminal activity such as illegal drugs, robbery weapons and child neglect. Harvest House has launched the “Turn on the Lights” fundraising campaign to help raise funds needed to transform the units into safe, comfortable homes for homeless families and veterans.

Harvest House is one the region’s largest providers of low-income rental housing for the chronic homeless. The funds provided by Baycross will be used for renovations such as  new roofs, furniture, doors, windows, air conditioning systems, flooring, appliances, cabinetry, and a beautiful playground.

The renovations are expected to take about nine months to complete. To donate or get more information about Family Village go to www.harvesthousecenters.org.
