Baycross awarded a grant to Fellowship of Christian Athletes for expansion into Manatee and Sarasota schools. The school campus can be one of the most strategic mission fields with many youth passing through this portal. FCA focuses on equipping, enabling, empowering and encouraging student-athletes, coaches and adult leaders to impact and influence their campus for Christ.
One way that FCA carries out their mission is by starting “Huddles” at school. An FCA Huddle is a certified small group bible study/devotion for coaches and athletes.
There are 30 schools (20 middle schools and 10 high schools) in Sarasota County and 32 schools (20 middle schools and 12 high schools) in Manatee County. FCA currently has Huddles and/or Character Coach programs in the following 6 Manatee County schools: Manatee HS, Lakewood Ranch HS, Braden River HS, Nolan MS, and Buffalo Creek MS and Palmetto HS. FCA currently has Huddles and/or Character Coach programs in the following 11 Sarasota County schools: Booker HS, Sarasota HS, Riverview HS, Venice HS, North Port HS, Imagine North Port, Venice MS, SKY Academy, Laurel Nokomis School, McIntosh MS, Venice HS.
Baycross is hopeful that the investment in FCA will result in more people being impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
