Baycross Christian Family Foundation awarded a grant to the Hardee County YMCA to provide scholarships to the neediest children in the community, whose families cannot afford to pay anything toward the Y’s fees.
With its current funding, the Hardee County Family YMCA was able to provide 4,000 families with partial scholarships to its programs. With a large migrant farming population in Hardee County, there remains a population of very poor families who cannot afford to pay any of the YMCA program fees, even with a partial scholarship. With the Baycross scholarships, children from these families will no longer sit on the sidelines. The Baycross scholarships will cover all fees for the Y’s after-school enrichment program, summer camp and the very popular soccer programs for those children who qualify.
